Spitfire Pictorial Cardboard Coffin
A quintessential symbol of victory over the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain during World War II, the Spitfire is one of our most beloved and best known planes. The building of many Spitfires during the war was funded by public subscription, giving the ordinary man or woman in the street a powerful sense of connection with this iconic plane. Every man and woman who has fought for their country, before or since, is rightly regarded as a hero and the Spitfire is a powerful representation of courage and valour in the face of adversity.
It is spectacularly featured on our Spitfire cardboard coffin which includes scenes of this ground-breaking aircraft in mid-flight. On the base, two planes have the welcome sight of land in view as they approach from the sea; while the coffin lid depicts an aerial view from above of three machines flying in formation through a cloud-strewn sky.
